This is a popular bakery/cafe within the gates of Old Town. The baked goods are very nice and service is great (service in Quebec City is very good in general). I took a star off for mediocre coffee. I took another off for 10 min wait in line to order given how busy it was. The place is large enough and could have had multiple servers to speed up the wait. For those going early and only ordering baked goods five stars would be more appropriate.
Great concept and great atmosphere. The food is amazing. You can have a great breakfast or have a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate with amazing pastries, all for a good price. We are breakfast here every day for less that half the cost of breakfast in the hotel.And there is even free internet.You can also take your drink and pastries to go.
Fast, but not fast food. The lunch combo is a lot of food. I had quiche and soup with bread, cafe au plait and a bite sized dessert. In addition I got a pear and chocolate pastry that was wonderful. Too much for one meal. They had too many pastries and beautiful desserts top choose from.
Prepared food is top notch, especially the salads. It's a great place to have breakfast although the menu is pretty standard. Most of the ingredients appear to be fresh, but not all. The bakery is good, not great. Croissants could be softer, bread could be a little fresher, especially with all the people pouring through. The coffee is good, much better than the chains but not quite local cafe standard. Crowds are huge, the lines are long, and the prices are a little high, but overall I would recommend this place for breakfast if you're ever in town.
The croissant sandwich was good and came with a free coffee and fruit cup, making it a good deal. The server was gross and didnt use a glove on one hand, which he used to serve food. He was also the cashier and took payment from customers, without washing his hands before preparing the meals. The sandwich line is much shorter than the pastry line, and it was more efficient to have the separate lines.
